The bathroom

The bathroom

From a simple “bathroom” to a place of relaxation and well-being

Until a few decades ago, the bathroom was used exclusively for bathing, but in recent years it has evolved more and more to become a place to relax, where we can find privacy and wellbeing.

Bathroom furniture

It has become an integral part of the home, and is perfectly suited to every style: from classic to contemporary, from minimal to rustic, from vintage to luxury, blending perfectly with the rest of the house, creating harmony between the environments.

The choice of style and composition of the bathroom will involve an accurate aesthetic-functional assessment: from wall and floor coverings to wallpaper, mosaics, stone and marble, sanitary ware and accessories, bathtubs and showers, radiators and taps. Each individual item will open up different worlds and the choice may seem difficult, but once you have identified your style and concept of well-being, it will be easy to match shapes, colours and patterns.

The bathroom is the perfect place to read that book you’ve never been able to finish because you have little time, the place where you can finally respond to the dozens of unread messages during a hard day’s work. The environment that allows you to leave the world outside and let yourself be pampered by an emotional shower with waterfall and mist or an airpool with integrated audio. The ideal place to feel important, looking after yourself and your beauty, where you enter your pyjamas and leave ready for the day.

Choosing bathroom furniture according to your needs

The question everyone asks themselves when choosing their bathroom: "where do I start?"

Bathroom renovation

The first aspect to consider is the type of intervention: renovation of just the bathroom or of the entire house.

In the first case, we should pay attention first to the floor, which will then have to match that of the adjacent room or corridor.

The choice of materials and colours will be fundamental in order not to fall into the error of buying “something that looks like” the floor of the house, since it will be almost impossible to find an identical one. Here, the advice is always to “break it up”, changing the type, but always paying attention to the colour palette, so as not to give the impression that the bathroom is a room “detached” from the rest of the house, with a different style.

If outside the bathroom we have a wood-effect floor, parquet or a flamed or shaded floor, we recommend choosing a floor with a uniform colour, referring to the shades of our existing floor. In this way we will get a “continuous” shade in our bathroom.

Once the tile has been chosen, we have to decide whether to create a “box effect”, i.e. to use the same tile on the walls as on the floor, or to choose different bathroom tiles that match the floor. Tiles today are produced in many types: from large slabs with reduced joints to classic 20x20 decorated tiles that take us back to the past. From natural material effects, such as stone or marble, to industrial effects such as resins and cements.

From here on, it will be easier to choose everything else, since our bathroom will already have a fairly well-defined look and style. We will then move on to the choice of sanitary ware (toilet and bidet), bathroom furniture, taps and fittings, radiators and various accessories.

The bathroom furniture, what was once simply called the washbasin, is not as simple a choice in today’s bathrooms as it might seem. Today’s bathroom compositions, for example, have nothing to envy to a kitchen, given the thousands of variations of shapes, colours and materials used. Therefore, in this case too, careful attention must be paid to the choice of materials in order to create harmony and continuity with the chosen floor and wall tiles. The same applies to taps and fittings and bathroom accessories.

For those who have a hectic life, a shower will be more suitable, which, although quick, can offer 10 minutes of perfect relaxation between mist, waterfalls, hydro massage jets, steam bath, sauna and Turkish bath. For those who have more time to spare, there is a sensory bath for airpool, whirlpool, chromotherapy, aromatherapy and ultrasound.

New functions are proposed every year, so that you can bring the wellness centre into your home.

Finally, it is important to give the right weight to the choice of lighting, which will highlight the elements chosen for your bathroom project.
